We from the third year finally had our written final exam last Friday. It was originally scheduled for April 29th, but was postponed to June 19th due to Corona.
This situation caused us to be under a lot of pressure and stress, as both the final project had to be done and the exam preparation had to be managed somehow.
The deadline for handing in the final project was on 07.06. – after that it was steep for us to prepare for the exams. All the overtime built up for the project was invested in the preparation. Our daily routine after handing in the project consisted of the preparation for the oral exam (making a presentation) and after work a learning session in the learning office with Open End.
These learning sessions consisted of old IHK exams, IHK learning cards with which we took oral exams and our friend and helper: the whiteboard. The exams gave us topics that we discussed again as a group. Our thoughts for this were mainly recorded on the whiteboard to visualize the topics and to discuss them again briefly the next day. So we revisited non-technical topics such as trade calculations and forms of organisation as well as the technical areas such as UML, RAID, SQL etc.
The day of the exam started for us already at 5 am. We met at the TecAlliance parking lot and then drove from there together – with masks of course – to Würzburg. During the drive we discussed many topics and tried to calm our nerves.
Almost punctually at 8 o’clock they started to explain the procedure to us. We started with the Holistic Task 1 (professional qualifications), for which we had 90 min time. Afterwards there was a 30 minute break and then we wrote the Holistic Task 2 (core qualifications) and the WISO (economics social studies). At about 13 o’clock we finished and were allowed to go home.
Now we continue to work diligently on the preparation for our oral exam and are very excited about the results.
