Experience report Melina

I joined TecAlliance in September 2019 as a student in Digital Business Management. During my time as a student, I had the opportunity to gain valuable insights and hands-on experience across various departments.

Already at the beginning of my studies I was able to travel to our location in Cologne to get some insights in Sales Service department. There I learned the basics of order management, which gave me a solid foundation in understanding customer needs and the importance of efficient service delivery. Afterwards I joined the IM Tools Team in their office in Elpersheim who introduced me to the fundamentals of project management, where I developed skills in planning, organizing, and managing resources to achieve project goals.

Another enriching experience was in the Research & Innovation department, where I wrote my first project thesis focusing on improving the Hotline performance with Machine Learning algorithms. This experience not only deepened my technical knowledge but also my research and analytical skills. The most time I have spent with my current colleagues in the BU Repair and Maintenance Information, where I explored the innovation potential of the TecRMI Service Book for my second project thesis.

Because my planned semester abroad at the NYP University in Singapore got cancelled due to Covid-19, I took the chance to spend the time at the IT Operations department (Communication & Collaboration Team) in Ismaning/Munich for multiple weeks. During my time there I created a concept for a new intranet structure as well as concepts for other smaller IT projects.

In my final year, I rejoined the RMI team to focus on the enhancement of my Product Owner Skills like Creation of Product Backlog Items, Testing of new Features, Creation of Mockups and joining customer meetings. To finalize my studies I wrote my Bachelor Thesis about the Conceptualization on the Electronic Vehicle File.

After completing my studies, I joined RMI as a Product Owner for the TecRMI Service Book. In this role, I am responsible for the further Development of the product itself as well as managing pilot phases, customer meetings and adding new manufacturers to the portfolio. Since my Team consists of Developers from Germany, Spain and Vietnam working within a Scrum framework to ensure the successful development as well as cultural collaboration is essential.
