At the beginning of the seminar all speakers introduced themselves. It was explained that during the seminar questions and answers should be written in the chat. Of course, everyone should also mute themselves, so that each participant could participate comfortably and undisturbed in the seminar. In general, the seminar was about reducing stress caused by digital technology, social media and preventing it from occurring in the first place. During the seminar the survey tool / website www.menti.com was used from time to time, e.g. questions like “Do you think you are digitally stressed?”, or “Which of the following ’social media apps’ do you use the most: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitch?” were asked. The first big topic was stress, parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. There it was explained that the active time of the sympathetic nervous system can be greatly prolonged by stress and thus the onset / switch to the parasympathetic nervous system starts much later. This leads in the end to unwanted behavior and feelings, one is also much more exhausted because the body can not recover properly.
After the first topic came the first exercise for stress reduction. One should inhale and exhale here with slowly through the belly. Then came topic two, one should separate work and private life as well as possible. Through these boundaries, the daily routine can be clearly structured and thus already once a certain basic security.
Next exercise: Give the eyes a break. The point of this exercise was to cover the open eyes so that they cannot take in anything. The meaning behind this is that in our modern way of working we take in a lot of information with our eyes, so they may be overstrained.
After these two exercises, topics such as cyberbullying and screen use / time on the smartphone were discussed. And two more exercises were added. In these, you were supposed to focus only on the tip of your thumb with your eyes, hold your arm outstretched, and then move your hand.
In conclusion, I can say that the seminar has definitely taken something, because I now know more about my body and can now start to make adjustments to my lifestyle.
