Our Haslach site recently hosted a three day developer workshop — a great opportunity to dive into various areas of software development while getting to know the team better.
Insights into SAP Projects and Complex Topic Areas
During the workshop, I took part in several meetings with our SAP team. The wide range of topics helped me gain a much clearer picture of the team’s responsibilities and how the different areas work together.
One particularly interesting project, which is close to completion, is CMD – “Manage Data.”
TecCMD is used to centrally provide pricing, availability, and inventory information for purchasers on our platform.
A Function Module Created by AI
A real highlight was a meeting where we developed an entire function module using AI for the very first time.
The module checks whether the business rules in TXML files — the transport messages exchanged between suppliers and customers — are being followed.
It was fascinating to see the AI suggest a completely new approach that no one in the team had used before. A real glimpse into the future of software development.
Agile Processes and Software Release Planning
I also gained insight into the organizational side of development: attending a sprint planning session and learning how decisions are made regarding release timing, patch structures, and version management. This gave me a much better understanding of how many strategic considerations go into delivering clean, stable software.
Performance Testing of Our AI Application
We also put our AI application through a runtime test, analyzing how processing time scales with increasing order volume — an important step to ensure performance and stability before moving toward broader rollout.
Team Evening & Tischkicker Finale
Of course, there was time for fun as well: In the evening, we gathered for a (slightly late) Christmas celebration. Over good food and later at a bar, I had the chance to get to know the team even better in a relaxed setting.
On the final day, we wrapped things up by testing the famous table football setup at the Haslach site — the perfect end to three intensive and inspiring days before heading home.
