My first practical semester began in mid-January.
In the first few weeks, I worked on a new website for the trainees. That was perfect for getting started because I was immediately part of a project where you can see right away what you’re actually doing it for. Together with the other trainees, we worked on a website that makes all the important tools centrally accessible.
Joining the SAP team
After a short time, I moved to the SAP team. At the beginning, the program focused on learning the basics of ABAP. I always worked on small function modules, which allowed me to gain practical experience.
Three days in the Black Forest
Then I was rotated to the Black Forest site for three days. There, I got to meet the developers from the SAP team in person, look over their shoulders, and simply experience what everyday life is like in a development team. On top of that, there was a belated Christmas party—perfect for getting to know people outside of work.
Back again, we went into even more detail. I was able to delve deeper into the topics covered by the TecCom-SAP team and gained a better understanding of how the systems are connected and what role our team plays in the overall picture.
A week in Ismaning

Later, I spent another week in Ismaning. There, I saw departments such as Controlling and Accounting and got to know many of TecCom’s POs. That was really valuable for me because it helped me understand how many people and roles have to work together to make a product really work in the end.
The weeks have flown by incredibly quickly. I have learned a lot, met lots of nice people, and gained some really good insight into various areas.
