From 27 June to 1 July, Julia and I were at our location in Ismaning (near Munich) to supervise the trainee workshop. We started the five-day workshop with a company presentation and a company tour. Patrick, a former trainee, was in charge of the company tour. Julia and I also took part in the tour, as this was our first time at our location in Munich and we didn’t really know our way around the building yet. After that, Julia took over and taught the interns HTML & CSS, which are markup languages that can be used to design and structure texts, images and much more on the web. The next few days, the interns were also able to learn programming with Python and use their newly acquired knowledge to operate LEDs on a Raspberry PI.
On Tuesday evening, we visited Munich together with Patrick and Stefan (former student) to see something of the city as well. First we wanted to go to the Hofbräu restaurant, but since there was not a single seat left, we went to the Augustiner Klosterwirt restaurant and ate typical Bavarian dishes there. We had Sauerbraten, Krustenbraten and the Klosterwirt Würschtlplatte. We ended the evening with cocktails.
On Thursday, Julia and I went to Munich again and saw various attractions and went shopping in the centre of Munich. Afterwards, we went for a walk in the English Garden and visited the Eisbachwelle, a place where many surfers meet to ride the wave. To round off the evening nicely, we went out for a round of burgers afterwards.
On Friday, our time in Munich came to an end and we drove back to Weikersheim in a company car. We had a great time there and it was great to get to know another location. I’m already looking forward to going back to Munich in August.
