Last week, on October 9, 2025, I was invited to a career speed dating event at Weikersheim High School. At this event, all upper school students have the opportunity to talk to experts from various professions in 20-minute intervals. Experts from commercial, technical, and IT professions were present. Speed dating enables students to engage in direct conversation with experts and gain insights into their professions and everyday lives.
The event began with a welcome address by the school management and the district master craftsman. This was followed by a group photo of all the experts and students in the auditorium. Then the first round of discussions began. There were four rounds of discussions in total. In the fourth round of presentations, I had the opportunity to present the IT specialist apprenticeship to three interested students, together with a trainer and an apprentice from Würth IT.
After a brief round of introductions, we talked about our daily lives, opportunities to study abroad, and vocational school. We then discussed the various job opportunities that can arise after successfully completing vocational training. The students asked us questions to gain more insight into our daily lives. After 20 minutes, the session was over, and I made my way home.
Career speed dating is a great event that gives students insight into different professions and offers them the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with experts.
