Experience Report Tobias
Vice President Digitalization Tools
My professional career began in 2009 at AuDaCon AG—today part of TecAlliance—where I trained as an IT Specialist for Application Development. During my apprenticeship, I worked in several development teams and departments, which allowed me to build a broad technical foundation early on. A particularly formative experience was my active role in the trainee team, where I was jointly responsible for training fairs, trainee events, and excursions. In February 2012, I completed my apprenticeship with distinction.
Afterwards, I worked as a software developer in the Fleet Solutions Team until September 2012. In this role, I was involved in web development for Fleet & Leasing Solutions and gained my first hands-on experience in product development.
In October 2012, I began my dual bachelor’s degree at DHBW Mosbach, Bad Mergentheim Campus, in International Business with a focus on Industrial Sales & Marketing. In parallel, I took on the role of Junior Business Developer in the Business Development department at TecAlliance. My responsibilities included optimizing internal processes, conducting market research and analysis, developing market strategies, creating pricing models, performing internal analyses, and monitoring market and competition trends.
In 2014, I had the opportunity to complete a semester abroad at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). That same year, I also gained in-depth insights into the Chinese automotive aftermarket during an extended stay in China—an experience that had a lasting impact on my international perspective on the industry.
In October 2018, I moved from Business Development to Information Management, initially as a Junior Project Engineer and later as a Project Engineer. I held this position for more than four years, managing global, web-based software projects. I led internationally distributed teams in agile, Scrum-based environments and was responsible for requirements engineering, project planning, and project controlling.
Alongside my professional role, I completed a part-time master’s degree in International Management at Steinbeis University Berlin as well as an MBA at its partner university in Curitiba, Brazil. I also spent some time on-site in Brazil to enrich my studies with practical experience.
Since March 2021, I have been serving as Vice President Digitalization Tools at TecAlliance. In this position, I lead a department of more than 40 employees, focusing on product and project management, software development, and data engineering. In addition to my leadership responsibilities, I am actively involved together with my team in supporting trainees and dual students—an aspect of my work that is particularly important to me.
Since 2024, I have also been working as a part-time lecturer at Steinbeis University Berlin, currently supervising twelve master’s students. For me, combining practical experience with teaching is a valuable contribution to developing the next generation of professionals and leaders.
