Hey, my name is Linda and I am studying International Business in the 4th semester at DHBW Bad Mergentheim. Today I’ll tell you a little of my everyday life at the DHBW. The DHBW students have the opportunity to spend the fourth semester abroad. I decided against it, but that doesn’t mean I missed something.

Together with my fellow German and international students, I spent a week in Berlin, the German state capital. The organizers of DHBW have made every effort to offer us a varied and interesting program. On the agenda were the visit of the BMW Motorbike factory, a tour through the Reichstag building, a trip through the city or a visit of the Ottobock Science Center.

Of course, lectures on further education could not be missed, and so we spent a few hours at the Technical University of Berlin (TU); Tim Janßen, CEO of the non-profit company Cradle2Cradle e.V. told us about the “mission” of the company: changing the way of thinking about garbage. Cradle2Cradle shows that every “waste” product is actually no garbage, but a resource that can be reused.

We were not only at the TU and talked with Mr. Janßen about garbage, but also got access to the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam. The HPI was founded by the SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner and focuses on courses in the area of digital engineering. After three different lectures, we got in touch with the lecturers and were given insights into, for example, Design thinking or innovative research areas at HPI.

Apart from all the cultural and scientific aspects of the excursion, the fun, of course, could not be missed out. After the program of the day there was enough time for extensive shopping tours and exploring the nightlife of Berlin.
