From stu­dent to in­st­ruc­tor – “Aus­bil­dung der Ausbilder”

My name is Tim and I am cur­r­ent­ly stu­dy­ing ap­p­lied com­pu­ter sci­ence in the 4th se­mes­ter at the DHBW Mos­bach. To­day I would like to tell you how I ac­qui­red my trai­ners’ cer­ti­fi­ca­te (AdA).

The in­st­ruc­tor’s cer­ti­fi­ca­te can be ta­ken at the DHBW Mos­bach, for this the cour­se has to find an ap­point­ment with the or­ga­ni­zers. Un­li­ke in ge­ne­ral, the training and ex­ami­na­ti­on is not car­ri­ed out di­rect­ly by the Cham­ber of In­dus­try and Com­mer­ce, but by a ser­vice provider.

Now you are su­rely won­de­ring what hap­pens the­re and what the con­tent is?

I would like to give you a litt­le in­sight: The training went on for a week every day from 08:30 – 16:00. At first, we dealt with the lear­ning theo­ry, and I thought it might be qui­te slug­gish. I soon rea­li­zed that it was not just pure theo­ry, the sub­ject was de­ri­ved and ex­p­lai­ned in a com­pre­hen­si­ble man­ner using dif­fe­rent group pro­jects. The to­pics are very pro­found and in the in­ter­na­liz­a­ti­on of the to­pic the know­ledge hel­ps not only in the cour­se of the training, but can ge­ne­ral­ly be very use­ful in de­aling with other people.

As of Wed­nes­day, the sub­ject mat­ter chan­ged and the is­sue was more about the le­gal aspect and the pre­re­qui­si­tes and the com­pe­ten­ces to be co­ve­r­ed. In or­der to get the trai­ner’s li­cen­se, a test has to be ta­ken, in which case I could de­ci­de bet­ween a pre­sen­ta­ti­on or a roleplay.

As a com­pu­ter sci­en­tist who has al­rea­dy pre­sen­ted more of­ten, it was clear to me that I would crea­te a pre­sen­ta­ti­on. The con­tent is about the con­cep­ti­on of a lear­ning si­tua­ti­on and then a dis­cus­sion ta­kes place, in which you have to an­s­wer many ques­ti­ons. The exam lasts a to­tal of 30 mi­nu­tes, but it felt like 5 minutes.

The task is to teach one or more trai­nees so­me­thing, in this case, the to­pics of the fac­tu­al and tem­po­ral struc­tu­re have to be ta­ken and worked up. As an in­st­ruc­tor, you can de­fi­ne va­rious tar­get points by yourself and teach the mat­ter with dif­fe­rent lear­ning me­thods to the trainees.

For me, the trai­ners’ cer­ti­fi­ca­te was a com­ple­te suc­cess and af­ter my stu­dies I will have the two ye­ars of pro­fes­sio­nal ex­pe­ri­ence, which is why the­re is not­hing to hin­der an in­st­ruc­tor’s activity.
